    Office Supervisor – Field Operations Union Workforce


    Philadelphia Residency Requirement - Candidates must move to the City of Philadelphia / Philadelphia County within 12 months of hire



    • Supervise the general office activities in the Distribution/Field Service Department, including, but not limited to the union clerical staff.
    • Conduct interviews for clerical job applicants, schedules interviews with supervision for the hiring of Craft and Service employees.  Also, reviews Department’s Rules and Regulations with all new employees.
    • Oversee, direct, and perpetuates all monthly reports generated by approximately 23 clerical personnel.
    • Research and compile relevant data for legal claims made against PGW and the Distribution/Field Service Department.
    • Serve as “Custodian of Records” for the Field Operations Department
    • Gather information on work assignments of restricted duty employees, review medical return dates, and information pertaining with Employee Utilization Committee.
    • Attend and assist in union meetings.
    • Monitor FMLA and uncertified absences, unpaid and paid absences for compliance to corporate absence policy.
    • Able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime when required


    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field of study preferred.  Associate degree required.
    • Must have experience supervising a union workforce.
    • Must have experience with a TLM (Time / Labor Management) system.  Ability to learn additional company systems quickly.
    • Must have experience in being a subject matter expert on Corporate Policies and Procedures.
    • Must have leadership skills with the ability to inspire high performance and a team oriented work environment with a sense of urgency to achieve desired results. 
    • Must have analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze and report impact of all activities on budget and daily operations.
    • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to secure cooperation of personnel at all levels.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.   MS Access a plus. Oracle a plus.


    Residency Requirement:  All employees of the Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) must live in the City of Philadelphia for the duration of their employment. If a candidate does not live in the City of Philadelphia at the time of hire, he/she must move into the city within twelve (12) months of his/her hire date.
