Overview

This position oversees and coordinates operating conditions and procedural compliance for assigned storeroom including safety, security, receipt, inspection, storage and issue of materials for all client departments. In addition, the incumbent oversees, on a rotating schedule, one of several of the following areas including the central storeroom, overflow storage facilities, outlying station storerooms, office services, tool repair shop and stationery storerooms that function on a 24/7 basis. Safety is a high priority/high exposure item and numerous hazards must constantly be addressed including safe driving, heavy lifting (50-60 lbs.), forklift, stacking requirements, loading/unloading, and placement of unloaded material, hazardous material, moving parts, exhaust fumes and spills. This supervisor has jurisdiction on a rotating schedule, over one or several of the following areas including central warehouses, overflow storage facilities at the Passyunk Plant and storerooms at outlying stations, duplicating service area, post office/ mail gathering facility, a tool repair/pipe cutting shop and a stationary storeroom.

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities Include:

Inventory Control

Develop implements and maintains tracking systems to ensure the control and maintenance of inventory stored and minimize on-hand inventory levels in the warehouse and storerooms.

 

Audit inventory information, stock status and inventory balances for accuracy availability and reordering decisions including tracking special order items. Review issue tickets for completeness, legibility and accuracy; orders and requisitions items to maintain in inventory. Maintain accurate records and reports for inventory control.

 

Reconcile purchase order conflicts, incorrect material deliveries & over shipments; retain documentation of all information to facilitate future orders and minimize improper shipments.

 

Oversee and coordinate inspection of received materials into assigned storeroom including notifying Procurement for the inspection of Class C (special) materials and inspecting Class A and 8 (general, routine) materials.

 

Supervise and performs the dispatching function of the delivery force for delivery of materials to worksites, storerooms and outlying stations and insures excess materials are returned to stock.

 

Track location and condition of special tools loaned to client department and sent to Transportation department for repairs.

 

Supervise work distribution and completion. Supervise, monitor, and train personnel to ensure they are working using safe acceptable warehouse practices.

 

Personnel Management

Coordinate subordinate work activities by developing project timelines, milestones and analyzing impact, determining priorities of activities, making work assignments, monitoring projects, and providing direction and assistance as needed.

 

Assess employee needs ensuring subordinates are properly trained and adhere to company policies, practices and procedures including collective bargaining agreement when applicable. Assists the Manager first step union grievance procedures.

 

Evaluate and meet with subordinates to discuss work performance providing appropriate commendations and disciplinary actions to ensure employees are well equipped to meet and/or exceed job expectations.

 

Finance & Accounting

Participate in the annual budget preparation process as needed or requested.

 

Other Related Functions

Monitor removal of scrap and maintains pertinent information needed to monitor scrap value.

 

Perform 24 hour on-call duty occasionally in order to satisfy emergency needs such as need for additional drivers, accident investigations, etc.

 

Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.

 

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Management other related field of study.

 

3 - 5 years relevant work experience in ad related area such as warehousing, receiving, or inventory control; preferably in a utility environment.

 

Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license and clean driving record.

 

Must be familiar with standard operational methods of storing, shipping and receiving.

 

Must have supervisory skills with the ability to create a professional and constructive environment that fosters a team-oriented and customer service approach to day-to-day operations.

 

Must have project planning and management skills with the ability to make operational decisions, monitor progress and report results.

 

Must have verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees, irate vendors and other public agencies/officials in delicate, pressure situations.

 

Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle Financials Purchasing and Inventory Module.

 

Knowledge of bar code technology and electronic data exchange would be a plus.
