    Enterprise Project Management / PMP - EPMO 

     

    Directly responsible for supporting PGW’s Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) as part of the Corporate Planning Department.  The Enterprise Project Manager (EPM)  relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under immediate supervision of, and direction from, the Enterprise Program Management Office Director.   The EPM will assist in improving the management of projects, programs, and portfolios; help optimize the capability and use of scarce resources, ensure alignment of projects with the overall vision, mission, strategic objectives and goals of the company; and monitor the appropriate metrics to assure continued improvement.  The EPM will support team members and PGW projects, with a focus on collecting data for analysis with various tools.  The EPM is a key contributor to achieving specific goals for Tier 1 projects involving fewer than 4 departments with implementation periods of less than 2 years.  

     

    Responsibilities

    Project Management

     

    Define and maintains standards for enterprise-wide project management. 

     

    Strive to standardize and introduce economies of repetition in the execution of projects and cross-department programs.

     

    Help direct monitoring of key programs and projects throughout PGW through excellence in communication, governance, and reinforcing standards.

     

    Provide guidance and training on project scope statement and project management plan creation as well as schedule management and risk identification.

     

    Maintain executive consolidated dashboard for projects with metrics and tracking for projects.

     

    Organize and promote company-wide improvement efforts by evaluating and developing improved operating procedures and performance measures that assist PGW functional Directors in improving business processes, increasing availability of data for decision-making and enhancing the reliability of financial reporting.

     

    Provide guidance for marshaling resources (internal and external), obtains buy-in, and help drive projects to successful completion with aggressive schedules.

     

    Support elements of process improvement initiatives as it relates to the EPMO.

     

    Facilitate alignment and aggregation of the project status reports and consolidate into dashboard for communication with Senior Team.

     

    Coordinate and consolidate plan data into management information and specified report formats.

     

    Identify and establish relationships with various stakeholders and/or other organizations that impact PGW’s project management.

     

    Provide assessment and financial analysis related to proposed ideas that are generated through the intake process.

     

    Finance & Accounting

     

    Ensure timely transfer of information and help with unit operating and capital budget processes.

     

    Help to maintain appropriate tracking systems for maintaining control of unit expenditures for standard work needs and special project coordination.

     

    Other Related Functions

     

    Identify industry trends, metrics, and best practices, and monitor relevant economic indicators translating them into implementable programs that drive the organizations improvement initiatives with a focus on innovation.

     

    Perform other special projects and assignments as directed.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related area of study.

     

    Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

     

    1 - 3 years’ experience performing as a project manager for EPM I; 3 - 5 years’ experience performing as a project manager for EPM II; 5-7 years’ experience performing as a project manager for Senior Project Manager.

     

    Must have written, verbal and presentation communication skills and be willing to facilitate and offer opinions in order to provide guidance on projects.

     

    Must be able to work with teams and in an environment that requires flexibility and adaptability.

     

    Must have strong organization/prioritization skills with the ability to work on varying projects while meeting established time-lines.

     

    Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the departments and be team-oriented and customer-focused.

     

    Must have the ability to understand the business environment, business cycle, internal processes, projects, and programs that support initiatives, as well as the short-term impacts and challenges (in short, the context) and how to achieve the strategy through tactical execution.

     

    Must have good interpersonal influential skills with the ability to support change throughout the business; encourage the organization to embrace change, and support cross-functional and cross-departmental projects.

     

    Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct research, gather relevant internal and external information and synthesize into a cohesive, concise presentation and/or analysis.

     

    Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Outlook, and accounting software such as Oracle.

     

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future


     

    Residency Requirement: All employees of the Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) must live in the City of Philadelphia for the duration of their employment. If a candidate does not live in the City of Philadelphia at the time of hire, he/she must move into the city within twelve (12) months of his/her hire date.
