    Trainer - Gas Processing LNG Trainer / Technical Trainer


    The LNG trainer is responsible for planning, designing, developing, coordinating, and conducting effective safety, regulatory and technical training programs and materials that ensure full compliance with the Company’s safety policies and operating programs. The individual provides training to meet the requirements of the Company's union progressions; provides proctoring, follow-up and remedial training for Operator Qualification  (OQ) for DOT covered tasks; identifies pertinent safety issues and incorporates them into training programs; and provides on-the-job training as required.

    PGW has a residency / domicile requirement – Candidates must agree to move to the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County within 12 months of hire.  



    Plan, organize, secure and conduct training programs, seminars and workshops for plant operations, maintenance and safety personnel in such a manner as motivate attendee participation.  This includes but is not limited to:


    -Scheduling/coordinating the appropriate training facility

    -Preparing the physical setup of room, audio/visual equipment, etc.

    -Notifying attendees and department representatives about scheduled trainings

    -Developing and maintaining training program participation database

    -Determining the need for outside facilitators and coordinating those efforts

    -Participating in Train-the-Trainer certification programs


    Develop implements and maintains a means of monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of training programs through testing and participant feedback.


    Conduct ongoing assessments of employees’ knowledge and skills as relates to departmental functions, employee development and training.


    A TWIC Card is required but we are willing to work with a well-qualified candidate on obtaining a TWIC Card. For more information on obtaining a TWIC Card please visit:


    Conduct initial LNG training for all new employees, employees of other departments, and contractors that are entering the plants.  Performs refresher training as required or requested.


    Develop, maintain and implement training calendars for plant related activities.


    Keep abreast of advancements in training technology ensuring that developed programs are current and utilize the latest in state of the art audio/visual and electronic training aids.


    Through software programs and electronic spreadsheets, ensures that training schedules are maintained that identifies when employees are due for required training. Ensure documentation of completed training for each employee is catalogued and available through various reports.


    Preparation and distribution of training materials including but not limited to: course content, outlines, course materials, bulletins, on-line and computer based training manuals, hard copy manuals, visual aids as well as pre and post tests, course and instructor evaluations.


    Catalog and maintain library of training aids including computer based training materials, departmental communications, corporate and regulatory policies and procedures.

    Participate on various training committees.


    Generate various reports on a weekly, monthly, annual and ad hoc basis.


    Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.


    Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or other related field of study is required.  Trainer certifications highly desirable. 


    1 to 3 years of experience working in adult education, teaching, training program development or other related disciplines


    Exceptional communications skills including presentation, facilitation, verbal and written abilities


    Must have knowledge of computer based presentation programs such as Power Point, Adobe and Publisher


    Must have analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment


    Must be flexible with the ability to function effectively under unusual or unexpected issues and events


    Must be well-organized and detail-oriented

    Residency Requirement:  All employees of the Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) must live in the City of Philadelphia for the duration of their employment. If a candidate does not live in the City of Philadelphia at the time of hire, he/she must move into the city within twelve (12) months of his/her hire date.
