Special Projects Manager- Customer Programs 

Responsibilities

 

Work closely with teams of project managers, integration and software developers, data analysts, and subject matter experts within the business in order to create, maintain, and develop strategies for packaged and custom solutions that satisfy specific business requirements.

 

Actively participate in functional requirement definition (including reports), business process design, system design, configuration, and testing efforts of packaged and custom solutions.

 

Assist with all aspects of new project development. Assist IS with specific system test approaches for implementing new or enhanced functionality.

 

Analyze specific customer information system issues, identified by the business, in order to determine the business impacts (cost & volume), the complexity, the priority, and the root cause of the issues.

 

Identify/design potential work around processes for issues preventing the business from satisfying their requirements.

 

Actively participate in data integrity initiatives including data quality, report discrepancy, and data consistency projects.

 

Work with departmental senior management to identify processes that have the potential to be changed - with the goal of reducing cost and/or improving efficiency (e.g. budget billing review, purchase of receivables analysis, customer responsibility modifications, etc.).  Identifies areas of non-compliance or changes in regulations that may necessitate project implementation. 

 

Analyze PUC regulations and Orders to ensure that new projects comply with PUC requirements.

 

Establish lines of communications with, and serves as one liaison between, customer affairs and IS management to help identify and resolve system production issues that need to be addressed.

 

Analyze the need for additional tools to help manage daily tasks, plan work, and optimize workforce utilization.

 

Ensure all business process changes are documented with expected and actual results.

 

Ability to think creatively and work independently or with a team effectively in a fast paced environment which requires continuous learning.

 

May oversee temporary and/or contracted staff in support of project efforts.

 

May participate in non-system based Customer Affairs related training as requested.

 

Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.

 

Qualifications

Advanced degree highly preferred.Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field of study. 

 

3 to 5 years of directly related experience working in the utility industry.

 

Must have leadership skills with the ability to inspire high performance, a team oriented work environment with a sense of urgency to achieve desired results. 

 

Must have analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze and report impact of all activities on budget and daily operations.

 

Must possess strong scope, prioritization, and time management skills, able to multi-task and work independently to meet strict deadlines.

 

Must have advanced project management skills with the ability to organize, plan and execute large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors.

 

Must have verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to secure harmony and cooperation of personnel at all levels.

 

Advanced computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other software.
