Overview

The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally-owned gas utility in the nation, supplying gas service in the City of Philadelphia to over 500,000 customers.  From its humble beginnings in 1836, PGW has grown into the large, modern facility that exists today.  As one of the nation's leading natural gas providers, PGW prides itself on stability and continual growth. PGW is dedicated to becoming the Greenest Natural Gas Delivery Company in the region.

 

The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY.

Responsibilities

This internship offers hands-on experience in grants management and strategic planning within PGW's Corporate Planning Department. The intern's responsibilities will fall into two main areas:

 

  1. Grants Management Support:
  • Organize and catalog existing grant documents
  • Help develop templates and tools for grant applications and compliance
  • Maintain up-to-date records for grant reporting

 

  1. Funding Research:
  • Research and compile information on prospective public and private grant funding opportunities
  • Coordinate with Grant Writers and 3rd-party experts to support data collection efforts, and gathering other technical company materials as needed for potential Grant Applications

 

Additionally, the intern will support the broader Corporate Planning Team with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

This role is ideal for someone interested in grant writing, nonprofit management, public administration, or strategic planning.

Qualifications

1. Currently enrolled in a college/university program with good academic standing; pursuing a graduate degree preferred

2. Strong organizational, research, and communication skills are essential

3. Currently enrolled in a college/university program with good academic standing

4. Able to commit a minimum of 16 hours weekly on-site at PGW’s headquarters
