Location: 800 W Montgomery Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19122

On site - 5 days / week -  Eligibility for a compressed work week may be available after six months.  

Responsibilities

This Director is tasked with leading an enterprise-wide initiative of data and analytics development. This individual will be responsible for delivering the platforms, analytical solutions and services that enhance user productivity and maximize business value.  The incumbent will oversee a group of data analytic developers / engineers who are ultimately responsible for the development and delivery of reporting and analytic solutions to help PGW’s business units operate more effectively, understand what business questions need to be answered and how to unlock the data to get the answers.  The Director of Analytics Development aligns and directs the management, development and integration of data analytics and business intelligence necessary for supporting the mission, vision strategies, objectives and goals of business.

 

  • Lead the PGW’s Data Analytics Development efforts, implementing a management framework for effective data analytics and machine learning production operations
  • Support the Data Analytics team with job pipeline automation, testing and scheduling activities including migrating batch processes to event-driven processing models
  • Coordinate with the Quantitative Analytics & Risk team to productionize models and deploy them to processing platforms as jobs or containers
  • Work with IS to design and implement robust job monitoring, exception logging, security monitoring and financial cost allocation capture.
  • Work with IS Security & Infrastructure teams to provision resources, maintain role-based access controls, platform keys and secrets and optimize resource scheduling for data analytics platforms
  • Establish automated procedures to capture and analyze analytics platform performance to identify recommendations for execution and cost optimization
  • Define and Govern the team’s Analytics Development Lifecycle (ADLC) including project templates, documentation standards, QA processes and managing an approved list of libraries and dependencies
  • Manage and maintain the team’s code repository, schema maintenance scripts and deployment pipelines
  • Provides technical consulting for teammates and stakeholders on architecture, performance, management and maintainability issues
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and business stakeholders
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards.
  • Perform high complexity changes with minimal supervision

 

Personnel Management

 

Supervises professional and non-exempt employees responsible for the day-to-day operational planning and tasks related to assigned area; assesses subordinate needs, monitors performance, sets goals, evaluates and disciplines as necessary ensuring subordinates are well equipped to meet and/or exceed job expectations.

 

Other Related Functions

 

Provides continuous monitoring divisional goal achievement and progress, evaluating the need for strategic changes/modification due to changes in the business, economic and political environment; identify performance gaps between goals and actual performance; works with department heads to provide corrective action to remedy the condition.

 

Performs other special projects and assignments as directed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Data Sciences or relevant field
  • 7+ years in a similar role with progressively responsible experience including professional and management capabilities
  • 10+ years with ETL, data modeling, and business intelligence in big data architectures
  • Experience with Business Intelligence leadership, displaying an ability to go beyond functional expertise
  • Acquisition integration experience
  • Proven track record and knowledge of analytics, big data, ML, and AI
  • Analysis Leadership skills and experience in business intelligence, data management, enterprise data warehouse, big data, dashboards, as well as BI and Analytics tools and technologies
  • Solid understanding of data science principles and analytics and how it is applied to solve business problems and achieve business goals
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare reports, documents and presentations which communicate concepts to technical, non-technical and executive audiences
  • Collaborate effectively and lead cross-functional teams as needed to deliver results
  • Strong business requirements gathering expertise – work with business users to define and document technical and process requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to create innovative solutions
  • Extensive expertise in data definition, data profiling and data quality
  • Experience managing complex projects with diverse teams and developing data driven and outcome-based initiatives to improve business decision making and operational efficiencies
